Intensive Care Hospitalization

Dr. Pendry and our team specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of critically ill or injured pets. We provide intensive care and life-saving procedures for serious and rapidly developing conditions.

Our emergency treatment helps pets survive severe trauma or injury, poisoning, acute organ failure, respiratory distress, cardiac irregularities, or post-surgical complications. Once we have stabilized your pet, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan based on their specific medical requirements.

While your pet is in our intensive care, they will receive consistent monitoring of their vital signs, which will help us accurately diagnose and properly treat them. Our care plan may include:

Respiratory Treatment
We provide several treatments for respiratory distress, including sedation, oxygen therapy, airway clearance, and fluid drainage.

Blood Transfusion and Blood Products
Your pet may require a blood transfusion if they have suffered excessive blood loss, have an insufficient oxygen-carrying capability, or require coagulator factors. Treatment might entail the transfusion of whole blood, packed red blood cells, or fresh frozen plasma.

Nutrition Support
We will develop an individualized nutrition plan, coordinating with your veterinarian to ensure the best dietary options for your pet.

Pain Management
Injuries and surgical procedures result in pain that we strive to eliminate or minimize during our care. Many procedures require postoperative pain management, though the duration of treatment will vary with the procedure. Generally, your pet will receive pain-relief medications before, during, and after the surgery. We will administer the appropriate drugs based on your pet's specific needs and develop a medication plan to facilitate their recovery and comfort.
